Before you practice writing persuasive paragraphs with your students, be sure that they are familiar with the writing process (especially prewriting) and have a handle on paragraph structure. Your students should also be competent with distinguishing fact from opinion, using examples, and writing with statistics–you can find lessons on all of these topics in the expository paragraphs section.
Also, be careful not to make this common, disastrous mistake when teaching students to write persuasive pieces.
