Introducing students to the writing process is tough–they always want to skip straight to the end!–but here are some lessons and materials to introduce prewriting, drafting, and revising to your students.

Lesson 1: Introduction to the Writing Process

Lesson 2: Identifying your purpose

Lesson 3: Knowing your audience

Lesson 4: Choosing a topic

Lesson 5: Brainstorming and clustering

Lesson 6: Asking questions about your topic

Lesson 7: Categorizing information

Lesson 8: Organizing information and removing extraneous details

Lesson 9: Putting details in order

Lesson 10: Writing a thesis statement

Lessons 11& 12: Drafting and evaluating

Lesson 13: Revising for ideas and organization
